Be Grateful

In a time like this it’s so easy to think about everything that’s going wrong. Instead, why not focus on the things that are going right? It’s very helpful to your mood to reflect on everything you are grateful for, even when there are so many bad things going on.

Recently I read something that suggested making a gratitude list daily. What I read suggested that it is not only important to be grateful for the big things, but it is also important to be grateful for the small things too. Be grateful for how delicious the food you ate was, or for having time to relax, or for being very productive. Whatever it is, reflect on how grateful you are for it. Every night I reflect on 10 things I am grateful for.

Being grateful helps you focus on the good parts of life as opposed to dwelling on the bad parts. The more you get into the habit of being grateful, the more positive you will be throughout the day. I’ve found that since I have started reflecting on things I am thankful for I am more likely to flip my negative thoughts into positive ones. Instead of being mad about something that happened during the day, I flip that thought into something good that happened. I have even started to get into the habit of expressing this positivity to my coworkers to try to get them to be in better moods.

In conclusion, it is important to focus on the good things in life. Bad things will happen, but if you dwell on those you are likely to have a bad day.
