I love eating jam, but hate the idea of eating a store bought jam with who knows how many preservatives and how much added sugar. I decided I would take things into my own hands and make my own jam. I was delighted to learn just how easy it can be to make your own jam! I discovered THIS RECIPE by Two Peas and Their Pod and fell in love with how simple and delicious it was!
What you need..

- 1 lb blackberries(frozen or fresh)
- 2-3 TBSP of Agave
- 3 TBSP of Chia Seeds
- Vanilla
Directions

Start by boiling the blackberries until they start to break down. I’ve made this recipe before and have always used frozen blackberries like the original recipe calls for. This time I couldn’t find any frozen blackberries at the store, so I am using 6 oz of fresh blackberries. With the frozen blackberries I didn’t add any water while boiling, but I did add a little water with the fresh blackberries.
Next, mash the blackberries with a potato masher or fork.

Then, add the agave and chia seeds and boil until the jam is thickened. The original recipe used maple syrup, you could also use honey. If you like a more tart jam, use less sweetener. Because I was using less blackberries I only used about a TBSP of chia seeds and a small squirt of agave because I like a more tart flavor.
Finally, remove the jam from heat and add the vanilla!

This jam can be used in so many ways. Spread it on bread, mix it in with yogurt, add it to a smoothie, use it in a dessert.
