I’ve decided that to help reduce binges I am going to allow myself one treat a day. The hardest part of that is going to be figuring out what that treat is. I don’t keep sweets in the house because I’m worried about binging, so I’m not sure if I should hold off on keeping them in the house while I work on my strength against binging.
I think it would be a good idea to keep treats in the house that require effort to eat. By that I mean having individual serving sizes that force me to think before I open another package. Or maybe items that require cooking to eat so that I am more likely to stop before I eat another treat.
One of my favorite things to do is bake. I think I want to start finding healthier dessert recipes so my treat is better for me but still indulgent. When baking for myself I am going to store the treats in individual serving sizes and freeze them so I have to thaw them and think about it before eating them.
This journey started off with me thinking that limiting myself to one guilty pleasure a day would be easy. The first few days were actually easy. As time goes on I have realized that I am going to struggle with this forever. However, the harder I work, the easier it will become. The more I say no to binging, the better I will get at being in control of my journey.
What are your favorite healthy guilty pleasures?
